Gabriel Garcia Lorca wrote a play called Blood Wedding.
and it is actually my current project.
i'm playing the bride.. (sdlkfjadsl!!)
its sort of all consuming.beautiful.challenging.wonderful.scary.poetic.tearful.
and has made me mildly obsessed with several things:
namely:
*Lorca Poetry
*Andalusia, Spain: *Flamenco Dance
(this is actually Carlos Saura's Flamenco version of the play)
*And Black Wedding Gowns
(in rural Spain, brides wear black.
a symbol of fidelity until death)
the play opens March 3rd. I'm sure you will hear more from me about it.

like it's 1999
today i went to an actual cd store..
and i purchased a cd, that was released today..
then i opened the plastic wrap, put the cd on in my car and kept driving until i had finished the whole album..
it was really, really great. and newly nostalgic.
(the magnetic fields never disappoint-
i like realism much more than distortion)

books are the new boyfriends
so, i have been pretty much reading non-stop lately. and i must say, i love it. my brain is ingesting and ingesting all kinds of new things. and i am happy to say i have found some new favorite foods for thought:
"truth is an eternal conversation about things that matter, conducted with passion and discipline." -parker j. palmer
i agree with this. it bears a striking resemblance to Alma 32, in my mind..
Also: (somehow these are related in my mind)

"Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things." -Mary Oliver

Selfless: A Dance Marathon in 2 Acts
By Matthew Greene
(sigh.life.art.theater.)
You have 3 days to see this little tiny theatrical gem. I would highly recommend attending.. it's an experience. some food for thought at the very least. i have been feasting on it for months...
